I was born in Ft. Pierce and lived there all my life. As a child I had a few lessons from Beanie Backus who was a great influence on my work. I have an Associate in Art degree from the Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce. I consider myself primarily self taught.
I am an award winning guide of Wet Canvas, a website for artists, a member of Plein Air Florida, and the leader of Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast.
I used to do many other types of art work, wood carving, batik, acrylic, watercolor, block printing, ceramics, and pastel. I decided oil painting gave me the most pleasure and if I wanted to be my best I should stick with one medium. In the last few years I discovered plein air and have concentrated on using the painting knife. I love the rich texture and lustrous effects I get with the knife.
My studio is located in my home on Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce. I use both of my names in my art, Lori McNamara and Lenore McNamara.
