Rough sketch on bright orange ground.
the edges of the palette, then you can mix on the bottom.
A bit of paint for the cloud. The sky is ultramarine blue, cerulean at the bottom, the
bottom of the cloud is permanent rose mixed with the ultramarine all mixed with white.
The perm. rose is very strong, a tiny bit will tint another color.
Pushing the white top of the cloud down. A big knife makes this easy.
Dark colors roughed in. Still using the big knife. Ultramarine and
viridian green for the darks. Cad. yellow mixed with the green or
blue for the new leaves on top.
The palm fronds put on top of the darks. Photo has glare on it.
A ridge of paint on the small knife, lay on the scraped trunk of the
tree and push sideways. I got some indian red out for the darks in the
trunks. They have yellow and white on the sunny sides.
Palm trunks scraped and sunlit tops of bushes added.
Amount of paint for a bromeliad on the tip of the knife. Slide down
and the leaf is made. Flowers are made with the red paints, a few dabs
for each, pink on tops. Hibiscus are five dabs, a bit of dark for the
centers and a bit of white for highlights. Make flowers face different
ways, not all looking the same way. Put some closer together and
some farther apart so they don't look like a pattern on a cloth.
About finished, I stepped back and didn't like the ground, scraped
it off.
The ground re-finished. Also gave the far left palm a longer trunk.
Changed the middle background. I will probably fine tune it a little
more.
